Cal-Earth Institute is a non-profit organization founded in 1986 by Nader Khalili (1936-2008). Khalili developed the patented Superadobe (sandbag and barbed wire) system of building which utilizes local materials to sustainably respond to global housing needs in both the developed and developing world. Cal-Earth is an educational and research institute.
