Michael Howard is the founder and Executive Director for Fuller Park Community Development. Since 1992 he has led the community of Fuller Park in social and economic issues that was relevant to his constituents. He helped to bring more than 150 million dollars in capital improvements to Fuller Park, which helped to lower the lead levels affecting the community’s water supply for more than 4200 neighborhood families and their children.
He led the fight to replace the dangerous PCB’s found leaking in the
public schools light fixtures in one of the local elementary schools
effecting more than 450 children 38 teachers and a support staff. His
community work has received national attention, once when he was
featured in a PBS Special that aired in 2006 spotlighting how he and
his wife worked with community residents to transform a once illegal
dumpsite into Eden Place Nature Center. At Eden Place Michael teaches
environmental education to children and families on the south side of
Chicago. Michaels’ innovative Job Training program South Point Academy
was also featured in a special done by ABC 7’s Harry Porterfield in
2003. Michael Howard earned his certification as an Urban Developer in
1996 through a Graduate program indorsed by then Housing Secretary
Henry Cisneros. He holds a BBS degree from Robert Morris Business
Collage His certifications include: Master Gardener, Tree Keeper and
Raptor Handler to name a few. Michael serves as an advisor and board
member to numerous community agencies.
