Abstract:
Peak Everything: Treating Our Collective Hydrocarbon Addiction
Humankind has been on a growth binge for millennia, but prior to the industrial revolution, we were limited to yearly solar energy income. With fossil fuels, previous limits to expansion of population and consumption vanished. But now, at the dawn of the 21st century, those limits are reasserting themselves via climate change and peak oil. As a global society, our survival test will be to end our fossil fuel addiction before it ends us.

San Francisco Festival Abstract

“New Society Publishing Presents….”

At last year's Green Festival Richard discussed the problem of Peak Oil and one possible policy solution: an Oil Depletion Protocol. Response was so strong that it has resulted in the creation of an Oil Depletion Protocol Project; meanwhile, Richard has written a book on the subject (The Oil Depletion Protocol: A Plan to Avert Oil Wars, Terrorism and Economic Collapse) which has just been published. The Protocol can be implemented at any level, from the international community to the municipality to the individual. Learn how the world can power down peacefully!
