 Eric Fenster and Ari Derfel founded Back to Earth together on the Summer Solstice in 2001. Back to Earth is both an Organic Catering Company and Outdoor Adventure program based in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are food activists, mountain guides, social entrepreneurs, teachers, and passionate optimists.
Through their leadership, Back to Earth is at the forefront of
"greening" the event industry by supporting local organic farmers,
educating people about responsible food choices, and forging the path
of sustainable, conscious business practices. The outdoor program
offers wilderness journeys for inner city teens and yoga backpacking
adventures for adults.
Eric and Ari are committed to running a company that inspires people
and gives their employees an opportunity to feel that their day to day
efforts positively impact the world. The ultimate mission of Back to
Earth is to provide people with experiences that celebrate life, and
enhance awareness of self, community and the earth.
