All One Ocean-a Project of Earth Island Institute

PO Box 1164, Mill Valley, CA, 94942 - View Map

Help All One Ocean remove a million pieces of beach trash this year! All One Ocean (AOO) has a simple, community-based solution to ocean trash: Beach Clean Up Stations. These Stations, requested and managed by local communities, are mounted at entrances to beaches and watersheds, providing an easy, sustainable way for community members to make every day beach cleanup day. AOO's 24 Stations, installed across California, Hawai'i and Iowa, are built by Eagle Scouts and feature children's art and inspiring tips to be an effective ocean advocate. Hundreds of thousands of beachgoers use our Stations each year, resulting in the annual removal of more than one million pieces of trash from our beaches.

Lead Safe America Foundation

Lead Safe America Foundation is a Portland-based 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to childhood lead poisoning prevention. Childhood lead poisoning is more pervasive than most people realize. It just takes a microscopic amount of lead dust to poison a child (like from opening and closing a vintage painted window) and in some close-in Portland neighborhoods as many as 92.5% of the homes were built before 1978 (= high potential for lead hazards). San Bruno Mountain Watch

PO Box 53, Brisbane, CA, 94005 - View Map

For over 45 years San Bruno Mountain Watch has been working to preserve and protect San Bruno Mountain. Located just south of San Francisco, it’s one of the biggest open spaces in urban America, and the largest and closest wilderness to a population of over one million people. Encompassing grasslands, ancient oak forests, and riparian habitats, parts of the Mountain are remarkably intact—it is home to 13 rare and endangered species and three endangered butterflies. These rare and endangered butterflies struggle to survive on San Bruno Mountain, just south of San Francisco. All three butterflies are federally listed as endangered and the Mountain is the only place on the planet where these three species coexist. These butterflies have very specific habitat requirements - and butterfly habitat on San Bruno Mountain is under constant threat. Loss of habitat means loss of butterflies. Volunteers and staff from San Bruno Mountain Watch will work to restore the overall diversity and function of the mountain’s ecosystems to ensure that these butterflies will survive generations to come.
