Humane Society University (HSU) is a private, non-profit institution offering a variety of online, classroom, and hybrid undergraduate degree, graduate certificate and professional development programs in human-animal studies. HSU is comprised of two parts: the School of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Professional Studies.
Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) is an accredited private institution of higher education, located in Chicago, granting bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level degrees. The university offers a number of research and education programs dedicated to energy and sustainability initiatives under the auspices of the IIT Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (WISER) and in partnership with the IIT Armour College of Engineering, Stuart School of Business, College of Architecture, and all other university institutes and colleges. Located on IIT's Main Campus, WISER seeks to use a least-cost path to improve energy efficiency, enhance power reliability and security, minimize pollution, and continue the decarbonization of the global energy system. The institute looks to accomplish these goals through the development of interdisciplinary research initiatives including clean coal technology, perfect power system and smart grid, plug-in hybrid vehicles, renewable energy sources, and sustainable buildings. WISER is currently conducting a number of collaborative projects with the industrial, academic, and government sectors at the federal, state, and local levels including the City of Chicago and Cook County. The institute collaborates with the IIT Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering department, which offers master's and Ph.D. programs in Environmental Engineering along with an optional specialization in E3 (Energy/ Environment/ Economics), for engineers to specialize in energy technologies and also understand the associated environmental issues and economic forces that drive technology choice.The Environmental Management and Sustainability program is a part of the IIT Stuart School of Business located near the heart of Chicago's business district. The program offers a Master of Science in Environmental Management and Sustainability, a graduate certificate in Compliance and Pollution Prevention and a graduate certificate in Sustainable Enterprise (which is also a concentration in the MBA program). IIT Stuart is also home to the Center for Sustainable Enterprise, a research center dedicated to helping to implement practical and equitable business strategies that advance the ecological sustainability of the Greater Chicago Area, while fostering its current and future economic viability.
