FamilyFarmed.org's mission is to expand the production, marketing, and distribution of locally grown and responsibly produced food, in order to enhance the social, economic, and environmental health of our communities. In Chicago we partner with institutions including the Chicago Public Schools, Midway and O'Hare Airports, and McCormick Place to source local and responsibly produced food for their foodservice programs. Nationally, we train small and mid-size produce farmers in food safety through our Wholesale Success Trainings. We also produce the Good Food Festival & Conference every March in Chicago, bringing the local Good Food community together to learn, connect, and of course, eat Good Food!
Irv & Shellys Fresh Picks offers year-round home delivery in the Chicago area of local and organic produce, meat, dairy, eggs, baked goods and more. We are partnering with sustainable farmers to grow the supply of local food in a way that protects our health and the environment.
King's Hill Farm is a certified organic, permaculture, and intensely unique farm located in the beautiful rolling hills of southwestern Wisconsin. We manage 850 acres of forests, prairie, and of course lots of vegetables (35 acres of those). Since we believe that we should work with natural systems and be as biodiverse as possible, we raise several types of livestock, including turkeys, geese, ducks, llamas, pigs, and chickens. We also grow mushrooms, and even hunt morels when the time is right! This year marks the beginning of our edible forest - an entire hillside filled over 100 species of fruit and nut trees, flowers, and perennials like rhubarb, horseradish, strawberries, raspberries, and asparagus. We welcome people of all walks of life and love to participate in our agricultural adventures through our CSA, visits to the farm, or helping us play in the soil and grow delicious, good-for-the-world food.
Making a conscious effort to reduce the distance our food travels before consumption. "good food, made for local folks, by local folks"
