Chicago's largest no-kill, cageless cat shelter
Tree House was founded in 1971 and over a 40 year period we have expanded and enhanced our programs and services to become the largest, cageless, no-kill shelter specializing in the care, rehabilitation, and adoption of sick, injured, abused, and neglected stray cats. To date we have found homes for 16,000 cats, and care for approximately 300 cats on a daily basis. We care for animals and the earth, and use compact florescent lighting, earth friendly cat litter and cleaning supplies, donated linens, and more, as well as offering only vegetarian food at our events. We have an established recycling program, sweatshop free apparel and/or locally grown hand-made catnip toys in our "cat"alog, and a rain barrel that waters our garden.
