Green Festival Speakers
Julio Madrigal was born in Mexico and graduated from Oakland’s Mandela High School. He works for Planting Justice, an organization that builds organic gardens for Bay Area residents so they have access to fresh foods in their neighborhoods. Inspiring people with the message of knowing where their food comes from, reducing pesticides and fossil fuels in the transportation of food. Julio who was inspired by teachers, friends, and the lack of healthy food in his community co-launched EAT GRUB, Enhancing Access to Gardens and Revolutionizing Urban Backyards. With the aim to help people connect with their roots and their food, Julio believes that food is a human right, and people should have easay access to it. This drives his work to help families eat good, healthy and organic produce grown in their own backyard.
