Whether you want to meet new friends, receive school credit, help-out that resume or learn a new skill, Green Festival is the place to do it! Become part of the Green Festival team and directly contribute to the success of an event that promotes social justice and environmental responsibility in Washington, DC and around the world.

Green Festival volunteers are the key to every event! You become a  ‘green ambassador,’ assisting Green Festival attendees/exhibitors and also taking back your experience to your home, school, workplace and community.

Apply for the $5,000 Ford Community Green Grant in DC, LA and SF

greengrantnycFord Motor Company is partnering with Green Festival to award a $5,000 Community Green Grant in Washington, DC, San Francisco and Los Angeles this fall! Ford and Green Festival are seeking local, innovative, forward-thinking ideas to award the Community Green Grant.

Green Festival Returns to Washington DC, San Francisco and Los Angeles This Fall

WDC2010Summer time and the living is busy! Get ready, because Green Festival is headed to Washington DC, San Francisco and Los Angeles this fall.

We're kicking off our fall festival season September 29-30, returning to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Along with classic program favorites – Green Business, Fair Trade, Community Action and more – Green Festival introduces brand new, hands-on stages, including: DIY, Good Food, Live Art Demonstration and Eco-Fashion Showcase.

Learn by doing at the DIY Stage as you gain practical skills to increase your self-sufficiency while saving your money. Discover fabulous recipes for a healthy, happy family at the Good Food Stage. Be entertained by live demonstrations detailing the origins of eco-fashion and fantastic local art installations at the Eco-Fashion Showcase and Live Art Demonstration Stage.

Then, it's off to the west coast! Green Festival continues November 10-11 at the San Francisco Concourse Exhibition Center and November 17-18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

The Road to Rio+20: Rebuild the Dream

In celebration of the Rio+20 United Nations Earth Summit, Green Festival teamed up with Fund Balance and HuffPost GREEN to launch live global coverage of the first NYC Green Festival. Enjoy re-releases of memorable keynotes from our inaugural NYC Green Festival, held on Earth Day weekend at Javits Center North.

Today we feature award-winning social entrepreneur, NY Times best selling author, former White House green jobs advisor and globally renowned leader in environmental and social justice, Van Jones. Jones is the author of two best selling books, The Green Collar Economy and most recently, Rebuild the Dream. He is the founder of three leading nonprofits: Green For All, the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights and Rebuild the Dream. Jones speaks of an inspired nation, fighting to take back our future in a time where jobs are sparse, homes are being lost and politicians are not living up to the service of their people in need. Jones inspires us to demand the accountability that we need, from our elected officials and global leaders, to rebuild the dream of a prosperous future, embracing green jobs as the means to get America and beyond back to work.

The 8th DC Green Festival Launches September 29-30


The 8th DC Green Festival will take place September 29-30, 2012 in our nation's capital, so mark your calendars now!

 Green Festival, the nation's largest and most diverse sustainability event will return to the Washington Convention Center located at 801 Mt. Vernon Place, NW. DC Green Festival will offer not only an incredible sense of community but also the largest, most diverse and most trusted place for learning, shopping and having fun! DC Green Festival will feature an organic, vegetarian and vegan food court; an environmental film installation presented by the Sierra Club; an eco-fashion showcase; a Green Pets Stage; hands-on DIY workshops; cooking demonstrations;  live interactive art; an organic beer and wine garden; and, an incredible Green Marketplace featuring products and services from local, regional and national green and sustainable businesses and organizations.

Hear from media icon and GlobalGrind founder, Russell Simmons; civil rights activitst Dr. Benjamin Chavis; investigative journalist and AmpedStatus founder, David Degraw; and, Occupy.com founder, Josh Silver as they discuss mobilizing in 2012 to get money out of politics.

Today, we are featuring a stake holder’s panel on the topic of Rio +20, featuring: Carl Safina of the Blue Ocean Institute; Dan Lashoff, Senior Policy Advisor at the NRDC; Daniel Sheppard of the UN Develoment Agency; Paul Miller, aka DJ SPOOKY; and, James Hanusa, Organizer of the Rio+20 Summit.

We had a blast celebrating Earth Day in NYC April 21-22, and returning to Chicago's iconic Navy Pier May 5-6.

We're gearing up for a busy summer as we launch three more Green Festivals this fall!

We're returning to Washington, DC September 29-30 at the DC Convention Center. In November, Green Festival is headed west, returning to the San Francisco Concourse Exhibition Center, November 10-11 and the Los Angeles Convention Center, November 17-18. Stay tuned throughout the summer for exciting program updates and event news!

Green Festival continued its 2012 season in the Windy City, returning to iconic Navy Pier, Saturday and Sunday May 5-6. Throughout the weekend, over 24,000 participants ate, drank, shopped and discovered their way to a greener economy and the opportunity to embrace healthier, eco-conscious and socially-just lifestyles.
