Bio-K+ - Life is about balance

Life is about balance

The key to maintaining your mental and digestive health is Balance.  Your digestive system is made up trillions of bacteria.  In order to continue to support a healthy gut, it’s essential to maintain a balance of more good than bad bacteria so that it’s weighed in your favor.  This becomes especially important when your good bacteria may be reduced by stress, seasonal changes, and then antibiotic therapy.  Bio-K+® 100% Probiotics helps bring back that balance, keeping you healthy and ready to tackle on the rest of the year. #biokfresh

Spreading The Green Message Without Sounding Like A Schmuck

The Green Festival in Washington, DC is a great place to check out the coolest new green products and sample staple healthy living favorites like Honest Tea and Global Exchange Chocolate, but it is also a wonderful place to connect with green rock stars and sit in on interesting eco lectures.

Saves Lives-01For the first time ever, Green Festival teamed up with the Washington Humane Society (WHS) to launch the Green Festival-Saves-Lives Campaign.

During the second day of the festival, attendees had the opportunity to save lives by adopting homeless pets onsite at the “Adopt Force One” mobile adoption center.

The cute and cuddly cats and dogs captured the attention and the hearts of attendees, exhibitors, volunteers and staff.  For some people, the connection to their new best friend was instantaneous and half of all the animals in the mobile adoption center seemed to have found new homes.   Saundra, a one-year-old terrier mix was the first pup to find a home and WHS was thrilled that Cal Ripkitten, a long-term resident looking for a loving home, was the first cat to be adopted.DSC 0228

Even though the Green Festival in Washington, D.C. has ended, Green Festival still feels a connection to homeless animals that did not find a home at the festival, as well as the animals in the shelters.  As the open-door shelter in D.C., WHS cares for over 43,000 animals annually through adoptions, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations, a trap-neuter-return program for community cats, animal cruelty and neglect investigations, Animal Care and Control for the city, lost and found services to reconnect families, volunteer and foster programs, and a Humane Education program.   Because of their remarkable mission and work, WHS was a finalist for this year’s Green Festival Community Award and will receive a booth at Green Festival D.C. 2015, where they can promote their organization and raise awareness for the sustainability work they are doing in the community.  By helping WHS communicate its message to the masses, we can only hope that we will take part in helping the remaining animals find homes too.
