Before each Green Festival opening, a panel from Green Festival and Ford Motor Company will select a group of Community Green Grant finalists. Each finalist’s project proposal will be presented in the Ford Pavilion at each respective Green Festival.
Festival attendees will vote for their favorite project proposal. Votes will be tallied on-site, and the project proposal with the most votes will be announced as the Community Green Grant winner on Sunday at Green Festival.
The first $5,000 Community Green Grant of 2012 will be awarded during the New York Green Festival, April 21-22. Green Festival and Community Green Grant will then be traveling to award a local individual or organization $5,000 to positively impact their community in the following cities: New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Washington D.C.; San Francisco, CA and Los Angeles, CA.

The first $5,000 Community Green Grant was awarded to the ScienceFIST Foundation at Chicago Green Festival, May 14-15, 2011. Check out great video of the winning announcement, as well as the surprise annoucement of the winner.
The second Community Green Grant of 2011 was awarded at Seattle Green Festival by Ford's Manager of Environmental Policy, Nancy Homeister and Congressman Dennis Kucinich to the Homestead Community Land Trust.
At the inaugural Los Angeles Green Festival, the Community Grant was awarded to HomeGirl Cafe, a division of Homeboy Industries.
At the 10th Anniversary San Francisco Green Festival, the recipient of the Community Green Grant was Collective Roots.

Contest offered and open only to legal residents of the U.S. & D.C., 18 or older, who have not previously been a recipient of the Ford Community Green Grant. Starts on 3/1/12, Prizes (5): a $5,000 local grant (awarded as a check), which will be awarded to one winning local community or organization within 50 miles of each Green Festival city, subject to verification and final approval of Sponsors.
