The World’s Largest Sustainable Living Event Returns to Washington DC and San Francisco

Washington, DC (August 2008)  - Returning to Washington DC and San Francisco, Green Festival™, a joint project of Global Exchange and Co-op America, is the largest and most diverse green living event in the country. 

Now in its seventh year and in five cities nationwide, Green Festival™ brings together upwards to 175,000 attendees and is the world’s most authentic green living show, demonstrating its commitment to sustainability through extensive event-greening efforts. 

At Green Festival™, there’s something for everyone: kid and teen activities, green film festival, live music, 150 speakers and workshops, a green marketplace with more than 350 local and national green businesses, and dozens of community and nonprofit groups. 

Over the weekend in both cities, Green Festival™ attendees will explore the best in green: the latest in clean/green technology, green building, socially responsible investing, eco-fashion, natural body products, renewable energy, green careers and green-collar jobs, natural foods, eco-tourism, and more.

As the world goes green, Green Festival™, since its first event in 2002, has remained a model of environmental and social leadership, consistently providing the most up-to-date and authoritative information for consumers on every aspect of green living. Co-op America’s Green Business Network uses a stringent screening process to ensure all exhibitors and sponsors meet the best practices and highest standards for environmental integrity and social responsibility.

While many events and tradeshows are notoriously wasteful, Green Festival™ demonstrates an unmatched commitment to reducing impact by walking its green talk. Through the efforts of hundreds of volunteers and meticulous sorting procedures to reuse, recycle and compost, 97% of all show waste is recovered, translating into only 3% of the waste going into landfills. 

An organic food court specializing in vegetarian culinary delights and an organic beer and wine garden make it a great place to spend the entire day or weekend!
