ROCKVILLE, Md. – October 22, 2010 Standard Solar, Inc., a leader in the full-service development, installation and financing of solar electric systems for commercial, government and residential customers, will take part in the Washington DC Green Festival this weekend October 23rd and 24th.
Green Festival, the largest sustainability event in the world, is a joint project of Global Exchange and Green America. Its mission is to inspire and inform as many people as possible to help make our world just and sustainable. The Washington DC Green Festival will take place this weekend at the Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Place, NW, Washington, DC. The event will be open from 10 AM to 7 PM Saturday and 11 AM to 6 PM Sunday.
“Renewable energy and other sustainable lifestyle choices have become increasingly important parts of today’s economy and environment,” said Standard Solar President Scott Wiater. “Standard Solar is extremely excited to support an event like the Green Festival that highlights the significance of these choices.”
Standard Solar will be exhibiting its energy-saving products at booth 920 in the convention center. In addition, Standard Solar customer Chris O’Brien, who is the director of sustainability at American University and writes the Beer Activist Blog that discusses his solar installation, will be speaking at Green Festival.
Green Festival screens all exhibitors for their commitment to sustainability, ecological balance and social justice. The event also offsets 100 percent of its electricity emissions and is working toward becoming a zero-waste event. The event will include green products, green activities for kids, organic food and beer, green films and how-to workshops.
Featured speakers of the event include Ralph Nader; musician Gilberto Gil; bestselling author and award-winning journalist Amy Goodman; Reverend Lennox Yearwood, who also founded political non-profit Hip Hop Caucus; and Claudia Salerno Caldera, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Change for the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
