Seattle Green Festival 2011

“The sun disappeared and it was back to another rainy day in Seattle. Which made it a perfect day to enjoy some indoor activity such as the 4th annual Seattle Green Festival! This year the festival moved to a new venue, inside Qwest Field Event Center.

I’ve been volunteering and attending the festival since its first year. I’m so happy to be able to participate again this year. What a great event to be able to meet so many people who care about the environment.”

Eco-Friendly Sports Apparel Made from Bamboo Good 4 U — Good 4 The Planet!

Good Gear, an innovative concept in bamboo-based sports apparel, recently launched a line of products made 100% from white bamboo, the world’s fastest growing renewable resource. These products rival synthetic and chemical products in the market with their breathable, hypoallergenic and lightweight features.

Hartford, CT – April 6, 2011 Good Gear, an innovative concept in bamboo-based sports apparel, makes its debut at the San Francisco Green Festival April 9-10.

Good Gear recently launched a line of products made 100% from white bamboo, the world’s fastest growing renewable resource. These products rival synthetic and chemical products in the market with their breathable, hypoallergenic and lightweight features.

“We are thrilled to be part of San Francisco’s Green Festival this year,” said Torin Lee, Good Gear president. “Good Gear is a cutting-edge, growing, eco-friendly sports apparel line, and this venue will be a great opportunity for us to reach an audience that is very much in tune with our values and our concept: versatile, comfortable clothing for the active, environmentally conscious consumer.”

“Whether you are a competitive athlete, weekend warrior or active individual who has a passion for our environment, Good Gear products are comfortable, good for your athletic performance, and also good for the planet,” Lee said.

The environmental benefits of bamboo clothing are just as important as style and comfort, and far exceed the eco-utility of synthetic textiles.

  • Bamboo plants are very quick growers and do not require fertilizers or pesticides for a successful crop.
  • They require very little water and they can survive drought conditions as well as flooding.
  • Bamboo is a sustainable and renewable resource as the bamboo plant is self-replenishing.
  • It releases a significant amount of oxygen into the atmosphere, more so than trees.
  • Planting bamboo can help reduce the level of carbon dioxide in the air as well as reducing soil erosion.

“Bamboo and athletic apparel are both gaining in popularity,” Lee stated. “The demand for bamboo continues to increase every year due to its durability, texture and environmental benefits. Likewise, performance apparel is one of the fastest growing sectors of the global textile industry. By combining the two, we are offering a product that we believe is the right concept at the right time.”
