Since Blue Fish was founded in 1986, every garment has been been printed by an artisan’s hand. We have developed our own methods of printing, based on traditional block printing and including elements of mono-printing, & hand-painting.
Follow along as our artist creates a gorgeous floral design. Each piece printed at Blue Fish is a one-of-a-kind creation!
Step 1: The back block is sprayed with water before paint is applied.
Step 2: Paint is carefully applied and built up on the block. For a colorful background to print on.
Step 3: Blocks are pressed firmly and evenly by hand.
Step 4: The back block is printed.
Step 5: The top block is painted in swirls of neon paint…quickly.
Step 6: Hand painting is brushed on to create highlights and make the colors pop.
Step 7: The floral block is painted in very dark grey purple.
Step 8: Our artist starts hand painting in colors and highlights.
Step 9: A wearable work of art!
Step 10: The finished tee ready to be heat pressed.
