Seattle Green Festival Partners with city's first eco-friendly hotel seeking LEED certification
Hyatt at Olive 8 Adds a Twist of Green Hospitality

March 2009: This month, Green Festival will make its second trip to Seattle, one of the greenest cities in the United States. Green Festival – the largest and most authentic green consumer event in the nation – welcomes more than 100,000 attendees in five cities annually will celebrate sustainability in Seattle on March 28 & 29, 2009. This year, the Seattle Green Festival has formed a partnership with the city’s first eco-friendly hotel seeking LEED (Lead in Energy & Environmental Design) certification, Hyatt at Olive 8. This will also be the first LEED hotel opened by Hyatt Hotels and Resorts. The sustainable practices and environmental commitment of both organizations led to the development of a partnership between Green Festivals and Hyatt at Olive 8.

“With similar environmental commitments, a partnership between Seattle Green Festival and Hyatt at Olive 8 was only natural,” Gregory Roberts, Green Festival Producer, said. “Green Festival is constantly expanding its reach and impact. By teaming up with a prestigious hospitality chain like Hyatt, both groups will have a larger platform from which spread their core messages on the importance of going, and staying, green.”

As the 2009 Preferred Official Green Festival Hotel in Seattle, Hyatt at Olive 8 will host the festival staff for the duration of the show. Just two blocks from the Washington State Convention and Trade Center, Hyatt at Olive 8 is an ideal place to rest at the end of a long day exploring the Seattle Green Festival.

Hyatt at Olive 8 offers guests many green options, including:
  • Energy efficient rooms featuring master power controls for lighting to conserve electricity and water reducing shower heads and toilets
  • Hotel cleaning staff uses cleaning materials and chemicals that are environmentally friendly
  • The Hyatt at Olive 8 building use 32 percent less water, 20 percent less power, and create less storm water runoff than similarly sized buildings in the area
  • Hyatt at Olive 8 construction team recovered 95% of building material waste
  • The building is home to one of Seattle’s largest living rooftops
I don't have to tell you—we’re in for some rough times economically. That’s why sustainable business practices—practices that look at the bigger picture—are more important than ever. While companies, large and small, are reevaluating how they can do “better,” a group of visionary businesses are doing better right now. These organizations continue to be committed to recycling and recovery, forestland preservation, safe and healthy working conditions, ethical business practices, fair and equal opportunities, human rights and animal welfare, and the many other measures that seem so obvious, but have real costs.

We are so grateful for their courage to take a stand for what will work for the world in the long run, even when budgets require deep cuts. These are the qualities that each exhibitor exemplifies at Green Festival. And these companies need your support.

If you know of companies like these (or you work in one), please invite them to join us at Green Festival and show everyone what really makes them exceptional. Green Festival is the best way to share their products and services directly with their target audience.

Don’t forget to invite all your friends, family members, neighbors, coworkers—everyone and anyone—to come to Green Festival and support these outstanding green businesses!

To do our part, we are extending the 20% off exhibitor discount and including payment options.
