Marion Nestle is Paulette Goddard Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health at New York University, which she chaired from 1988-2003. She also holds appointments as Professor of Sociology at NYU and Visiting Professor of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University. Speech was born Todd Thomas in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The youngest of parents Robert & Patricia Thomas. He grew up on two sides of life: the ghetto of Milwaukee (one of the nations roughest cities for African Americans) and (Wauwatosa) Milwaukee's suburbia. Speech learned how to draw from the pains and beauty of both. He would absorb the plights of his people and yet the retreat of middle class blacks to primarily white neighborhoods. I am a post genre mixed media artist, attending the California College of the Arts. I have been living in Oakland for the past five years, and graduated high school from Oakland High through the Visual Arts Magnet Program (VAAMP). VAAMP taught me to always give back to the community through art.
I joined a college program called College Track, which helps students create a set class course for all high school classes, after school programs, and tutoring so that we are are able to afford and qualify for college.
