A fiercely independent Christian minister who refuses to be pressed into a conventional mode, Rev. Dennis Dillon, pastor of the Brooklyn Christian Center and the publisher of the Christian Times, is one of Black New York’s strong and celebrated voices.

As the pastor for the new and growing Brooklyn Christian Center, Rev. Dillon is co-pioneering a seeker-friendly church movement that emphasizes God’s great expectation for people to live whole lives and walk in their purpose. A compelling teacher and preacher of the gospel, Rev. Dillon was twice named among New York’s top twenty-five preachers (all races) by the Daily News and New York Newsday, and the New York Daily News named him among the region’s 25 most influential Black leaders in religion, politics and civil rights combined.

As the pioneer and publisher of The New York Christian Times, he has worked through the 19-year-old institution to lead one of the largest Black homeownership initiatives in the country, guiding close to ten thousand people to become homeowners since 1992. Through the annual Black Church Means Business Conference and his business empowerment initiatives, he has helped thousands of Black businesses gain corporate and government contracts, commercial loans and franchising, as well as other business opportunities. He is also the co-founder of the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Economic Literacy Coalition, Inc. (a 501(c)3 organization).

The recipient of over 120 community and national awards, Dillon, often referred to as the “Economics Preacher,” has been locally and nationally featured in major newspapers, magazines and radio/television news and public affairs programs, including The New York Times, Crain’s New York Business, Newsweek, HBO, Black Enterprise, and The ABC Evening News with Peter Jennings. He also made national headlines when he led Black America’s largest organized move of money from “unfriendly” banks to more community friendly institutions.

He is the author of 2 books, Bitter Truth is Better than Sweet Falsehood and Affirm Your Purpose, and has published more than 8 titles under the publishing brand Christian Times Publications.
