Dr. Keecha Harris
Dr. Keecha Harris, DrPH, RD Dr. Harris is President of KHA Inc, a public health consulting firm based in Birmingham, Alabama, leading evaluations of child wellness efforts, managing food policy initiatives, supporting sustainable food enterprises. Dr. Harris is a former spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association, a Food and Society Policy Fellow and wild salmon devotee. Dr. Harris is an alumnus of the inaugural class of Food and Society Policy Fellows supported by the WK Kellogg Foundation. As a Fellow, she communicated messages about the relationships between food production and consumption and their impacts on local economies, human health and the environment. Dr. Harris has published in referred sources such as the Journal of Nutrition, the Journal of the American Dietetic Association and Gellis and Kagan's 17th edition of Current Pediatric Therapy. Dr. Harris's media experiences include providing expertise for print, broadcast and electronic media such as www.Forbes.com, Healthy CHILDcare, Essence, Better Nutrition, Real Health and National Public Radio's Marketplace. Previously, she was the Nutrition Expert for MSN Health and Fitness (www.health.msn.com) and produced weekly articles. She is a contributing author to Whole Measure for Community Food Systems: Values Based Planning and Evaluation. Dr. Harris is a former National Spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association and an American Marshall Memorial Fellow of the German Marshall Fund. Dr. Harris is an alumnus of Iowa State University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Harris has held teaching appointments at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the School of Public Health and in the Journalism School at the University of Missouri. Dr. Harris has been recognized as Young Dietitian of the Year for the American Dietetic Association and received the Helen LeBaron Hilton Award from Iowa State University. Dr. Harris serves on the advisory board for Girls Inc's Body + Mind initiative and other national committees focused on wellness. Dr. Harris was recently recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as one of its 2010 Top 40 Under 40.
