Jay’s journey into storytelling began on the road from Kathmandu to Cusco, where he found a passion for sharing stories, person to person, with those he met along the way.
Jay’s travels took him to San Francisco in 1995, where he dove into digital storytelling, helping found Learn2.com, which Yahoo called ‘The Most Useful Site on the Web.’ In the years to come, Jay would create animated stories for clients such as Levi Strauss, Participant Media and NRDC, including some of the first major label music videos and viral videos driving action around social issues.
Then one morning, as Jay rushed out the door on a deadline, his three-year old son stopped him. “Daddy,” he said, “Do you love what you do?” Right then, frozen in the moment, Jay realized he had in fact left behind what he truly loved: sharing stories, person to person, with those he met along the way. And so Jay co-founded Wakingstar, whose mission is to craft stories that shape the world.
