YaVette Holts is the founder of Cowrie Village, a movement to build alternatives to our cash strapped economy. Every time someone accepts a dollar bill as payment for anything, it’s an act of agreement with the way things are. And because YaVette believes the way things are could stand for great improvement, Cowrie Village offers this movement the name of a natural currency much used before the man made dollar ever hit the scene.
YaVette has an entrepreneurial streak that runs long and wide. And her belief in the do-ability of sustainability is even wider. She’s all about opening doors and developing access, believing more in the redefinition of wealth than in the habit of seeking it. This bilingual, single mother of two has an ambition to sow the seeds of sovereignty and harvest a widespread shift in the ways we manage and define community and conduct.
