Karen Hudson


Karen Hudson resides on a fifth generation farm in Illinois. She is co-founder of FARM (Families Against Rural Messes), a group that organized when factory farms targeted Illinois for expansion. She is a co-founder of Illinois Citizens for Clean Air and Water. She is a national consultant to the Socially Responsible Agricultural Project and educates the public about the health, social, economic and environmental impacts factory farming.  Karen presented at TEDx Manhattan Conference Changing the Way We Eat in February 2011, which was aired live in viewing parties around the world. Karen and her work are chronicled in the recent 2010 nonfiction book Animal Factory. Karen has toured Poland as a guest of the Polish Veterinary Chamber and Polish Farmer's Union to educate citizens there about factory farming’s impacts. While in Poland, she was made an honorary member of the Polish Ecological Society, Polski Klub Ekologiczny, for her work. Organic Style Magazine selected Karen for their Nation’s Top 50 Environmental Power List.
