Chef Alex Moreno



Executive Chef Alex Moreno began his career in Los Angeles at some of the best restaurants in the city. Learning from such L.A. institutions as Melisse, Jiraffe, Spago and Bastide, he then took to the road as chef for the band Van Halen. After a year of touring with the legendary rock band, lead vocalist Sammy Hagar recruited Alex to be part of the culinary team opening up San Francisco-based Tres Agaves. Alex received accolades as a great cook in one of the best modern Mexican restaurants in the city, building a reputation for authentic food, which held to the traditions of the Jalisco region of Mexico. Returning home to Los Angeles, he now takes the helm as Border Grill Santa Monica Executive Chef in collaboration with Co-Chef/Owners Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger.
