Bill Zimmerman is one of the nation's most experienced political consultants. As co-founder of the leading consulting firm Zimmerman & Markman, whose work for ballot initiatives and for organizations such as the ACLU, NRDC, and MoveOn.org has won multiple awards for his political advertising such as the CLIO and the Pollie award. Bill continues to advocate for social justice through his blog at the Huffington Post, and through his practice.


Bill holds a PhD from the University of Chicago, and briefly taught there and at Brooklyn College. As an activist in the 60s early 70’s he helped lead the Indochina Peace Campaign and Medical Aid for Indochina. In 1973, he organized the airlift of food that broke the FBI siege at Wounded Knee, which was occupied by the American Indian Movement. He recently authored Troublemaker: A Memoir From the Front Lines of the Sixties which chronicles those events.
