The 10th Anniversary San Francisco Green Festival is This Weekend!

GreenFestivalSF10OverviewIt's time to celebrate! The 10th Anniversary San Francisco Green Festival is this weekend, November 12-13 at the San Francisco Concourse Exhibition Center!

Discounted tickets are still available online. The deadline for you to purchase your discount online tickets is Friday November 11th at 5pm PST. You can also purchase your tickets at the box office on Saturday and Sunday.

Ride your bike and use the Bike Valet for FREE admission at the door! Students with ID and seniors also receive free admission. Green Festival is at the San Francisco Concourse Exhibition Center, located at 635 8th St. If you take the BART, exit at the Civic Center station. You can take the six block walk down Eighth Street to Brannan, or catch a ride with Teacher with a Bus! Pickups and drop-offs occur every 20 minutes in front of the Hotel Whitcomb on Market St. If you bike to the concourse, the Bike Valet is located to the rights side of the Concourse in the parking lot. A few exciting highlights to lookout for this weekend:

Begin your Saturday at the Main Stage with an expert panel on the benefits of a plant-based diet. Speakers include: Jeffrey Smith, Non-GMO activist, author and Founder of the Institute for Responsible Technology; Eric Tucker, Executive Chef, Millennium Restaurant; Colleen Holland, Co-founder of VegNews Magazine; Dr. Michael Klaper, M.D., physician and plant-based nutrition author; and Jack Norris, R.D., registered Dietitian and President of Vegan Outreach. Moderated by Jeff Golfman, The Cool Vegetarian.

Book Signings at the Green Festival Bookstore
See your favorite speakers, pick up a copy of their latest book and get it signed at the festival! Look for the book icon next to speaker listings in the SF Event Guide.

Take a test drive in a brand new Ford hybrid or electric vehicle!
Go for a spin in a brand new 2012 Ford Fiesta SE, 2012 Ford Focus 5-door, or 2012 Fusion Hybrid. Why not try all three! Cars are available for driving on 8th St. at the front of the Concourse. Before you drive, head to the Ford Pavilion to learn about Ford's latest sustainability measures, including fuel efficiency and vehicle construction materials. While you're there, vote for a local project idea to win a $5,000 Ford Community Green Grant! The winner will be announced Sunday afternoon.

Musical Performances
On Saturday, be sure to head to the Main Stage at 3:45 pm for a special performance from Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company. Afterwards, get personal at Ben & Jerry's Community Action Pavilion at 4:30 pm with their fun workshop, "Moving in the Movement: Using Dance & Theatre as Tools for Social Change." On Sunday check out the fun edutaining antics of the Banana Slug String Band in the Green Kids' Zone at noon and on the Main Stage at 3:45 pm.

On Saturday and Sunday from 10am-1pm, get crafty in the Green Kids’ Zone making Maskostumes with local art collective Trash-Mash-Up and Bookmarks with Artterro! On Saturday at 2 pm catch a rendition of the fun and fabulous new children's book, Pachas Pajamas, and stick around for a screening of Hippo Work's "Simon Says: Let's Stop Climate Change!"

Acoustic Café
Stop in the Acoustic Cafe for a coffee and to check out the soulful tunes of local musician Valerie Orth, Saturday at 1 pm and 3 pm, as well as the harmonies of instrumentalist David Young at 2 pm and 4 pm. On Sunday, stop in for an interlude with DJ Sister Yasmin from 12 pm to 4pm.

Finding your Next Green Job

This fall, the Green Business Pavilion will expand to include a brand new element - the Green Careers Resource Center. Whether seeking your first green job, or already in a green career and looking to advance, you will find the tools to map out your career and locate ideal job openings. Be sure to attend the Bay Area Networking Session Saturday at 11:30 am, hosted by the Green Jobs Network, Eco-Tuesday, and SF Green Drinks.

The Green Jobs Network will be hosting a live green jobs board on-site, highlighting local green companies and Green Festival exhibitors who are hiring. Also, in the coaching cafe, join experts from Rigore Consulting to help you explore your green career path, launch a new project, grow your network and embrace more sustainable business methods.

Make your own non-toxic paints, learn about herbs that heal, grow it to eat it, start your own compost pile, find new ways to reuse water, create your own cleaning supplies and more! Get Hands-on with DIY Workshops all weekend!
